Good points. I, and Piketty, are only referring to Western civilization (though China and India are similar). I was not considering indigenous societies. These actually may hold clues of how to make better society. I was actually using a trick of language! Most indigenous societies are included in "history"! Anyway, thanks for your thoughtful comments.
